AUDITION RESULTS FOR UF JAZZ BAND
Thank you to the many talented musicians that auditioned! The auditions were very competitive this Fall and the most competitive since I have been at UF. In the end it came down to nuanced details such as solid tuning, diligent preparation and sight reading skills. Likewise, to be fair to everyone, the top spots must always go to those who auditioned into them.
For the musicians who did not make the top jazz band this semester, please know that nothing is set in stone and there is always the opportunity to dig in and make the band in the Spring! You may also still register for the jazz band course because we are going to make a jazz brass skills class and saxophone jazz skills class. This will help us deliver focused jazz skills classes and masterclasses for the students who want to excel. In these classes we will be working on sight reading, transcriptions, styles, counting rhythms, etc. At this time we are working on finding a rehearsal time that works for everyone and will know by tomorrow (Friday) what rooms are available in the School of Music.
